Ex-husband attacks woman with acid for marrying another man in Ahmedabad

A 26-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with acid by her former husband in Ahmedabad city Thursday, police said. The victim had separated from her husband Haribhai Nariya about a month ago, police said.

After learning that she has married someone else, Nariya went to her husband's house Thursday and had a heated argument with her, said an official of Khokhara police station.

"The accused then took out a bottle of acid from his pocket and threw the liquid at the victim, leaving her with burn injuries on the face and back," the official said. She was admitted to a local hospital. Khokhara police have registered a case against Nariya who is absconding, the officer added.
