Digvijaya Singh Questions EVM Reliability Amid India's Poll Results

The INDIA block, riding on the wave of encouraging performance against the BJP-led NDA during the Lok Sabha election vote counting, witnessed senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh make an intriguing remark on Tuesday. He dismissed the notion of a fight against Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Despite Singh's persistent doubts over the reliability of EVMs in vote tallying, he emphasized there was no issue with the machines themselves. "If there were any flaws with EVMs, Uttar Pradesh wouldn't have seen such outcomes," he noted. Singh reiterated the need for voters to trust that their votes are securely cast, highlighting a continued distrust of the software used in EVMs. His campaign for transparency in the voting process remains steadfast.

According to early trends and results from the Election Commission of India, the Samajwadi Party is leading in 35 seats with an additional lead in 3 others. BJP is ahead in 26 seats, having already secured six victories. Running as the Congress candidate from Rajgarh constituency, Singh trails his BJP opponent Rodmal Nagar by over 1.40 lakh votes. In response to queries about his trailing position, Singh quipped that Rajgarh people might prefer an MP who remains inactive.
