In a shocking courtroom drama on Friday, murder accused Shaikh Ahmed Shabbir (30) allegedly attempted suicide by consuming insecticide during his trial, police confirmed. He is currently battling for life at a hospital.

Arrested by Yashodhara Nagar police for a murder case, Shabbir appeared in court for his trial before the tragic turn of events unfolded. According to officials, while being escorted back to Central jail, he started frothing at the mouth and collapsed.

His condition was critical as he had ingested 'Jallad,' a highly potent insecticide. Authorities suspect that one of his relatives might have handed him the bottle in court. The Sadar police are actively investigating the incident.
