A court has issued a life imprisonment sentence to a man found guilty of raping a blind 14-year-old girl in 2020. The additional district and session judge, Ashwani Kumar, delivered the verdict and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000.
The case came to light when the victim's mother filed a complaint on June 24, 2020, alleging that her daughter had been raped by a man who also threatened her with death if she disclosed the incident. Following the complaint, an FIR was registered under section 506 of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
The police arrested the accused on June 26, 2020. He was known to the family and considered a close relative, adding another layer of betrayal to this tragic case.
