The Gujarat Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has proactively reached out to over 900 bribery complainants directly at their homes to safeguard them from harassment, according to an official statement on Saturday.
This effort is part of the agency's 'CARE' program, aimed at protecting and effectively responding to complainants. Launched on January 26, the initiative has already garnered increased trust among citizens, leading to a higher influx of corruption cases being reported. Since its inception, over 900 complainants have been approached under the program.
An official release stated that 104 bribery cases and 10 cases related to disproportionate assets involving government employees have been registered this year. In addition, assets worth Rs 25 crore have been uncovered. To bolster conviction rates, a committee headed by the assistant director of each unit has been formed, successfully achieving a 46% conviction rate in the first quarter of the year. Additionally, public awareness drives are being conducted to engage more citizens in the anti-corruption campaign.
