Lineman’s Electrocution Sparks Highway Protest in Rajasthan

A lineman was electrocuted while working on an electricity pole in Rajasthan's Kekri district, prompting villagers to block the Jaipur-Bhilwara National Highway in protest. They demanded compensation for the victim's family. Authorities eventually agreed to pay Rs 40 lakh, clearing the highway and allowing last rites to be performed.

A lineman was tragically electrocuted while repairing an electricity supply line in Rajasthan's Kekri district, according to police reports. The incident occurred in Khedi village, where Kishan Lal Jat, a 37-year-old resident of Ratakot village, met his untimely death.

Witnesses say Jat was working atop an electricity pole when the power supply was unexpectedly resumed, causing his fatal electrocution. Villagers, angered by this apparent negligence, blocked the Jaipur-Bhilwara National Highway, halting traffic for over a kilometer. They demanded Rs 1 crore in compensation for Jat's death.

Authorities, including ASP Ramchandra Singh, intervened and negotiated a compensation of Rs 40 lakh. The victim's body, which had been hanging for hours, was finally brought down for last rites as traffic resumed on the highway.
