Far-Right Rassemblement National Surges in France's EU Elections

France's far-right Rassemblement National party secured over 31% of the vote in the EU elections, leading by a margin of at least 16 points. In contrast, President Macron's centrists saw a decline, finishing in second place. Raphael Glucksmann's socialist list came in third with around 14%.

France's far-right Rassemblement National party won over 31% of the vote and was seen leading in the country's EU elections by a margin of at least 16 points, pollsters IFOP, Ipsos and OpinionWay said on Sunday, with Macron's centrists coming in second. The Rassemblement National made massive gains from the 23.34% it scored in 2019 while Macron's Renaissance bloc dipped to around 15% from 22.42% five years ago.

A list led by Raphael Glucksmann, a socialist member of the European Parliament, came in third, with around 14%, up from 6.19% in 2019.
