Describing the incident as a 'dastardly act,' she emphasized that the nation stands in solidarity with the families of the victims. On Sunday evening, terrorists opened fire on the bus from Uttar Pradesh, causing it to plunge into a gorge, resulting in nine fatalities and 33 injuries, according to a senior police officer.

'I am anguished by the terrorist attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. This dastardly act is a crime against humanity, and must be condemned in the strongest words. The nation stands with the families of the victims. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,' Murmu expressed on social media platform X.

In an earlier post that was later deleted, President Murmu had said she was 'deeply distressed to learn of a bus accident in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir in which a number of pilgrims have died.' She extended her condolences to the victims' families and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.
