A 13-year-old boy was apprehended after sending a hoax bomb threat email to Delhi airport, concerning an Air Canada flight bound for Toronto, police reported on Tuesday.
The email, sent as a prank, led airport authorities to activate high-alert emergency protocols. The boy was traced back through the investigation and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani detailed that the email triggered a full security sweep, ultimately revealing the threat to be a hoax. The boy, inspired by similar news, created an email ID minutes before sending the message and used his mother's mobile for internet access, leading to his apprehension.
