Rajnath Singh's Vision: Modern Defence & Self-Reliance

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has reiterated the Narendra Modi government's commitment to national security with a focus on modernising the armed forces and boosting domestic defence manufacturing. After assuming office for a second consecutive term, Singh outlined a vision to elevate defence exports significantly by 2028-29.

Singh stressed that the Indian armed forces are being equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and platforms, ensuring readiness for any challenge. He also commended the military personnel's dedication amid ongoing border tensions with China. The Defence Minister's plan includes achieving self-reliance in defence production and prioritizing the welfare of both serving and retired soldiers.

Among the veteran leaders retaining key ministries in the new government, Singh aims to build on the record Rs 21,083 crore defence exports, setting an ambitious target of Rs 50,000 crore within the next five years. He chaired a meeting focused on veteran welfare right after assuming office, urging officers to commit to the action plan outlined for the ministry's first 100 days.
