Massive Betting Racket Busted in Ujjain: Nine Arrested, Rs 14.58 Crore Recovered

The operation, linked to the T-20 Cricket World Cup, also involved confiscation of foreign currency, mobile phones, and laptops. The alleged mastermind, Piyush Chopra, remains at large.

In a significant operation, Ujjain police in Madhya Pradesh dismantled a major betting racket on Thursday, arresting nine individuals and seizing Rs 14.58 crore in cash.
Sources state that the racket was connected to bets on the ongoing T-20 Cricket World Cup and online games. Raids were executed in multiple locations, including Mussaddipura and 19 Dream Colony.
The operation led to the confiscation of foreign currencies from seven countries, including pounds and dollars, along with more than 40 mobile phones, laptops, and other gadgets. The police are on the lookout for Piyush Chopra, the alleged mastermind, and authorities plan to issue a look-out circular to prevent his escape.
