Yusuf Pathan Challenges VMC Land Encroachment Notice in Gujarat High Court
Yusuf Pathan, former cricketer and newly elected TMC MP, contested a Vadodara Municipal Corporation notice asking him to vacate supposedly encroached land. Pathan argued the matter should consider its decade-long history and the VMC's past proposal to sell the land. The hearing continues as the VMC presents its case.

Former India cricketer and newly-elected Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Yusuf Pathan has moved the Gujarat High Court against a notice issued by the Vadodara civic body. The notice demanded the removal of an alleged encroachment on a piece of land owned by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC).
Pathan’s plea argued that since the issue has persisted for over a decade and the plot has been in his possession, the VMC should have issued a show-cause notice giving him the opportunity to respond, rather than a direct order to clear the encroachment and vacate the plot.
Represented by senior advocate Yatin Oza, Pathan contended that the Gujarat government, which rejected the VMC's proposal to sell the land to him in 2014, lacks the authority to deny the sale because the land belongs to the civic body, not the state government. The next hearing is scheduled for Friday to hear the VMC’s arguments.
