Jodhpur Communal Clash: Policemen Injured, Vehicles Burned Amid Violence

In Jodhpur, two policemen were injured, and property was damaged in a bout of communal violence that broke out late Friday night. The conflict erupted in the Soor Sagar area over the construction of a gate near an eidgah, according to authorities.

Locals had opposed the gate to restrict movement at the backside of the eidgah. Tensions swelled when stone-pelting began, resulting in injuries to two policemen. A shop and a tractor were set ablaze, and a jeep was vandalised, confirmed Jodhpur West DCP Rajesh Kumar Yadav.

Authorities quickly intervened, dispersing the crowd with batons and tear gas. Despite these efforts, tensions remained high into Saturday morning, prompting a heavy police presence. Two FIRs were filed, and multiple individuals taken into custody, with ongoing raids to arrest more suspects. The situation remains tense but under control.
