Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to conduct a rigorous review of the nation's flood preparedness this Sunday, amid ongoing monsoon challenges that impact multiple regions annually.
Every monsoon season, states such as Bihar and Assam witness severe flooding due to rising river levels, causing widespread disruption.
'The Home Minister will lead a high-level meeting to evaluate overall flood management strategies,' the Home Ministry confirmed.
In addition to Bihar and Assam, states like Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim face landslides and other monsoon-induced crises.
Flood occurrences have also plagued Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Jammu and Kashmir in recent years.
Currently, Assam is battling floods, affecting approximately 3.90 lakh people across 19 districts.
The flood, landslides, and storm-related death toll has now reached 37, with one individual still missing.
Affected areas in Assam include Kamrup, Tamulpur, Hailakandi, and several others, impacting a significant portion of the population.
