Brutal Naxal Attack in Chhattisgarh: CoBRA Personnel Killed by IED Blast

Two CoBRA personnel were killed in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district after Naxalites detonated an IED near Timmapuram village. The attack took place around 3 pm, targeting a truck carrying the security forces. Additional forces have been deployed, and a search operation is ongoing.

Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district was the site of a tragic incident on Sunday as two personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force’s elite jungle warfare unit, CoBRA, were killed in a brutal Naxal attack. The Naxalites targeted a truck with an improvised explosive device (IED), resulting in the deaths of constable Shailendra (29) and vehicle driver Vishnu R (35).

The blast occurred around 3 pm near Timmapuram village between the Silger and Tekalgudem camps, over 400 km from Raipur. A senior police official reported that an advance party of the 201st CoBRA unit had been patrolling the area as part of its Road Opening Party duty.

In response to the attack, additional forces were swiftly dispatched to the area, and evacuation and search operations are currently underway.
