Bihar Govt Cancels Contracts Worth Rs 826 Crore Over Irregularities

The Bihar NDA government has cancelled 350 contracts, valued at Rs 826 crore, awarded during the previous Mahagathbandhan regime due to irregularities in contractor selection. The NDA government in Bihar has taken a stern decision to cancel 350 contracts worth Rs 826 crore, previously awarded during the Mahagathbandhan regime, for rural water supply, due to irregularities in the contractor selection process, a minister announced on Tuesday.

The Public Health Engineering Department's inquiry into the contract awards revealed lapses in due process, leading to the significant cancellations. PHED Minister Niraj Kumar Singh informed that various contracts related to hand pumps and mini water supply systems were under scrutiny.

The inquiry report has been forwarded to the state's competent authority for a comprehensive probe. Minister Singh emphasized that strict actions would follow for those found guilty. Former PHE Minister Lalit Yadav of the RJD was in office during the controversial contract distribution.
