In a grievous incident on the outskirts of the city, a 14-year-old Dalit boy was reportedly tied up and beaten by a man for plucking a pomegranate from his house, police reported on Wednesday.

The disturbing episode occurred on June 22 at Kesaram village located in Shabad mandal. The victim, who belongs to the Scheduled Castes community, had climbed over a compound wall to pluck the fruit when he was apprehended by the house owner, a retired government school headmaster.
