Trawler with Fishermen Goes Missing Off West Bengal Coast

A trawler carrying six fishermen has gone missing off the coast of West Bengal's Purba Medinipur district. Authorities are actively trying to locate the vessel, which could potentially drift towards neighboring regions or Bangladesh. The sea was noted to be choppy when the trawler set out.

A trawler carrying around six fishermen has gone missing off the coast of Purba Medinipur district in West Bengal, according to state minister Akhil Giri.

Efforts are underway to locate the vessel, with alerts issued to neighboring South 24 Parganas district and the Coast Guard, as there is a possibility the trawler may drift towards Diamond Harbour or Bangladesh.

An official from the Digha-Shankarpur Fishermen Association noted that the sea conditions were choppy when the trawler embarked from the Shankarpur-Ramnagar area. Hope remains for the safe return of the fishermen.
