The Bihar government has taken a decisive action by cancelling tenders for rural water supply works worth Rs 3,600 crore, announced Public Health Engineering Minister Niraj Kumar Singh in a press briefing on Friday.
An inquiry by the department revealed that the due process was not followed and many areas were not adequately covered, leading to the cancellation of these tenders, which were floated during the previous Mahagathbandhan government. Earlier, the department had already nullified 350 tenders worth Rs 826 crore.
The minister revealed that further steps are being taken to float revised tenders promptly. These tenders were crucial for installing hand pumps and mini water supply systems in rural Bihar. The government is also planning to install solar mini piped water supply systems in these areas.
