Ravindra Saini, a local leader of the opposition Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), was shot dead by assailants outside his two-wheeler dealership on Wednesday, police reported.

According to authorities, three gunmen approached Saini on foot moments after he left the showroom late in the afternoon. CCTV footage showed another man waiting on a motorcycle nearby. The attackers fled the scene on the two-wheeler.

Saini was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. The police confirmed that he had been provided a gunman for his security. Senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda expressed grave concerns over the incident, criticizing the BJP's governance in Haryana. He urged for swift and stringent action against the perpetrators.

Opposition parties have recently criticized the Nayab Singh Saini-led BJP government, citing increasing law and order issues in the state. Last week, traders in Hisar protested against the police's failure to arrest those involved in a similar incident and extortion attempts.
