China Rebukes NATO's Accusations in Draft Communique

China has condemned NATO's draft communiques from a summit in Washington, accusing it of being biased and attempting to sow discord. The draft describes China as a key enabler of Russia's war effort in Ukraine, a claim Beijing rejects. China on Thursday condemned NATO's draft communiques from the Washington summit, labeling the description of it as a decisive enabler of Russia's war effort in Ukraine as biased and disruptive.

NATO's draft further stated that Beijing poses systemic challenges to Europe and global security. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jin dismissed these claims, urging NATO to address the root causes of the crisis and avoid shifting blame.

Lin's remarks followed those of a spokesperson for China's mission to the EU, who called the draft full of Cold War mentality and provocative rhetoric. China reiterated its call for peace talks and political settlements regarding Ukraine.

China argues that NATO's criticisms disrupt regional stability, warning against its expansion into the Asia-Pacific. Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, and Australia, attending the NATO summit, have deepened security ties due to China's actions in the South China Sea.
