Two women Naxalites involved in numerous security force encounters and collectively carrying rewards of Rs 16 lakh surrendered to police in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, authorities reported on Thursday. Pramila Sukhram Boga alias Manjubai, aged 36, and Akhila Sanker Pudo alias Ratnamala, aged 34, turned themselves in to Gadchiroli police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The women were identified as Platoon Party Committee Members of the outlawed Maoist organisation, according to a release by the Superintendent of Police (SP), Gadchiroli. Boga is linked to 40 cases, including 20 encounters and two arson offenses, and carried a Rs 8 lakh reward. Pudo has seven cases against her, including four murders and two encounters, and also held an Rs 8 lakh reward.

Under the government's policy for surrendered Naxalites, Boga and Pudo will now receive Rs 5 lakh each for rehabilitation. As per police records, 21 hardcore Naxalites have surrendered to the Gadchiroli police since 2022.
