President Murmu Addresses MES Probationers, Emphasizes Quality and Sustainability

President Murmu also urged MES officers to consider climate change adaptation and mitigation in their infrastructure projects.

Probationers of the Military Engineer Services (MES) called on the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (July 12, 2024).

Speaking on the occasion, President Murmu highlighted the crucial role of MES in Indian security. She noted that MES not only serves the three services of the Indian Army but also provides support to various other units within the Ministry of Defence. The President emphasized that the MES's primary aim is to ensure robust infrastructure and quality facilities for the defense forces. She underscored that the true measure of MES officers' success lies in the reliability and quality of the infrastructure and facilities they provide. She advised the officers to remain vigilant and to earn respect by maintaining the highest standards in their services.

President Murmu also urged MES officers to consider climate change adaptation and mitigation in their infrastructure projects. She stressed the importance of minimizing the carbon footprint of their work and expressed her satisfaction with the efforts MES is making in this direction.

Additionally, the President pointed out that MES officers' responsibilities are not only technical but also ethical and managerial. She urged them to ensure efficient and effective use of the country's resources in all their projects. She concluded by stating that the efficiency and morality of MES officers are vital for strengthening the nation's security.
