A 34-year-old woman was fatally electrocuted on Saturday morning in northeast Delhi's Bhajanpura after stepping into accumulated rainwater. The incident occurred at 7.39 am in the C Block area of Yamuna Vihar near Moral Hospital, according to police reports.

The victim, identified as Poonam, was walking to the local market when the electrocution happened. Her husband, who runs a general store nearby, survives her. Police indicated that water logging from the previous day's rain likely led to the fatal accident.

'A live wire from an electricity pole near the footpath caused her to get electrocuted and fall in the water,' said Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirky. Efforts to save her were futile, and doctors at Moral Hospital declared her dead upon arrival. Authorities have begun investigating the incident, filing a case of death by negligence against unknown persons.
