ED Adjusts Cadre, Promotes Officers Nationwide

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has assigned over 29 newly inducted and recently promoted officers to various posts. This includes promoting nine ED cadre officers to Joint Director level for the first time. The organization investigates financial crimes under laws including PMLA, FEMA, and FEOA.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has assigned more than two dozen newly inducted and recently promoted cadre officers to various positions across its country-wide offices.

Over the last week, a total of 29 officers have been posted in the ranks of Assistant Director, Deputy Director, and Joint Director by the federal probe agency.

This includes the promotion of nine ED cadre officers to the Joint Director level, a first for the organization, according to the Union finance ministry. These officers will be stationed at ED zonal offices in Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Bhopal, Chennai, Guwahati, and the ED headquarters in Delhi.

The JD rank is a critical role in the ED, overseeing investigations into money laundering and foreign exchange violations. Traditionally, these posts have been held by officers from the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) on deputation.

In addition, 18 IRS officers on deputation from the Income-Tax and Customs department were also appointed as Assistant and Deputy Directors.

The ED, under the Union finance ministry, investigates financial crimes under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), and the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act (FEOA).
