Jharkhand High Court's Chief Justice, Dr. Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, inaugurated a Village Court in Baharagora's block headquarters on Sunday. This initiative, under the Ghatsila Sub-division of East Singhbhum district, is approximately 90 km away from the district center.
The Village Court will address civil and criminal cases involving penalties of up to two-year jail terms, eliminating the need for residents to visit sub-divisional or district courts.
Starting Monday, the court aims to expedite justice delivery for the public, benefiting the people of 26 panchayats, according to Justice Dr. Sarangi's address during the inauguration ceremony.
