Raja Saheb Under House Arrest: Ensuring Peace During Muharram

Uday Pratap Singh, father of Jansatta Dal president Raghuraj Pratap Singh, has been put under house arrest by district authorities to ensure peace during Muharram in Pratapgarh. This preventive measure includes nearly a dozen of his supporters and will last for 68 hours until July 17.

Uday Pratap Singh, the father of Jansatta Dal (Loktantrik) president and Kunda MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh, has been placed under house arrest by the district administration to ensure a peaceful Muharram in Pratapgarh, according to police reports on Monday.

Known as 'Raja Saheb', Uday Pratap is the titular head of the formerly princely state of Bhadri. His son, Raghuraj Pratap Singh, also known as 'Raja Bhaiya', is a seven-time MLA from the Kunda constituency in Pratapgarh district.

Approximately twelve of Uday Pratap's supporters have also been subjected to house arrest, which will remain in effect for 68 hours until 9 pm on July 17, police said.

Circle Officer Ajeet Singh explained that Uday Pratap and his supporters attempt to organize a 'bhandara' (community feast) to commemorate the death anniversary of a monkey who died years ago along the Muharram procession route in Sheikhpur Aashiq area.

Officials have placed notices at the main gate of Uday Pratap's residence, 'Bhadri Kothi', on the orders of District Magistrate Sanjeev Ranjan and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Bharat Ram, according to the Circle Officer.

A police force has been stationed at the residences of all those under house arrest, with instructions to monitor their activities closely, he added.
