Two trustees of a government-funded NGO, Nashabandhi Mandal, have alleged serious financial misconduct within the organization, claiming over Rs 13 crore has been embezzled and a dozen employees were fired without notice.
The trustees, Vivek Desai and Achyut Chinubhai Baronet, accused former office-bearers, including a former minister, of misappropriating funds during a land deal in 2013. Desai alleged that the payment was made without securing ownership documents.
Secretary Jitendra Amin refuted the allegations, explaining that a police complaint has been filed against the individual who failed to refund the Rs 13 crore, and that the terminated employees had been on ad-hoc contracts and are currently contesting their dismissals in court.
