The opposition BJP on Monday launched a fierce attack on the ruling Congress, alleging a Rs 187 crore scam in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation.

R Ashoka, leader of the opposition in the state assembly, claimed that this scam, which led to the death of honest government officer Chandrasekharan P, shows the 'anti-Dalit' nature of a government that claims to support Dalit causes. He termed it the '100 per cent Khata-Khat' scam, a jibe directed at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Chandrasekharan allegedly died by suicide after being tortured into approving an illegal money transfer. Heated exchanges erupted in the Legislative Council, with the BJP and JD(S) protesting against the government. The scam came to light following Chandrasekharan's death note, detailing unauthorized transfers and implicating several well-known entities.
