National Conference Condemns Doda Encounter Killings

The National Conference condemned the killing of four Indian Army soldiers and a police officer in a terrorist encounter in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. Leaders Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah expressed sympathy for the bereaved families. A joint operation led to the encounter, resulting in critical injuries and subsequent deaths.

The National Conference on Tuesday condemned the killing of security forces personnel during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district.

NC president Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah expressed strong condemnation for the killing of four Indian Army soldiers, including a Major, and a police officer in the incident, the party announced in a post on X.

The NC leaders expressed profound sorrow and outrage over the tragic loss of life.

In this difficult time, their heartfelt sympathies are with the bereaved families who suffered an irreplaceable loss, the NC added.

According to officials, troops from the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police initiated a joint cordon and search operation at Dhari Gote Urarbagi in the Desa forest belt, approximately 55 km from Doda town, late Monday evening when the encounter occurred.

Following a brief exchange of fire, the terrorists attempted to escape but were pursued by the troops led by an officer despite challenging terrain and thick foliage. This led to another firefight around 9 pm on Monday.

Five soldiers were critically injured. Four of them, including the officer, later succumbed to their injuries, officials reported.
