Former CIA Agent Indicted for Allegedly Acting as Unregistered South Korean Agent

Sue Mi Terry, a foreign policy specialist and former CIA analyst, has been indicted on charges of working as an unregistered agent for South Korea. According to the indictment, Terry allegedly received luxury goods and covert funding in exchange for advocating South Korean policy positions and disclosing non-public U.S. information to South Korean intelligence officers.

The indictment highlights that Terry's activities began two years after her departure from U.S. government employment in 2011 and continued despite warnings from the FBI. Surveillance images purportedly show Terry receiving gifts from South Korean intelligence officers at high-end stores in Washington.

Terry, currently a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, has been placed on unpaid administrative leave. Her lawyer, Lee Wolosky, contends that the charges are unfounded and misrepresent her work as an independent scholar. Both the Council on Foreign Relations and South Korea's National Intelligence Service have stated their intentions to cooperate with the investigation.
