Serbian Police Officer Killed in Apparent Kosovo-Linked Shooting
A Serbian police officer was fatally shot and another injured during a vehicle check near the Bosnian border. The Serbian government accuses Kosovo of terrorism. Kosovo Prime Minister says incident should not be politicized, while authorities continue the search for the suspects.
A tragic incident occurred near the Bosnian border on Thursday when a Serbian police officer was killed and another wounded in a shootout during a routine vehicle check. The Serbian government has labeled the act as 'terrorism' and placed blame on neighboring Kosovo.
Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic detailed that the officers had stopped a Serbian-licensed car when one of the occupants opened fire, fatally shooting one officer and injuring another. Authorities later discovered a Kosovo passport and a German ID at the scene.
While Serbia accuses Kosovo of orchestrating the attack, Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti has urged for the event to be viewed through a security and legal lens rather than politicized. Serbian and Bosnian authorities are now engaged in a manhunt, using drones and helicopters.
