Forest Authorities Nab Four with Elephant Tusks in Anthiyur

Forest authorities arrested four individuals in Anthiyur for possession of illegal elephant tusks. The tusks were intended for sale in the Gurunathaswamy temple area. Upon questioning, the men revealed they had buried the tusks nearby. The Forest Department is now searching for six more individuals linked to this illegal trade.

Acting on a tip-off, officials intercepted a vehicle near the Gurunathaswamy temple area on Thursday. The occupants confessed to having buried four tusks near the temple tank, which were subsequently recovered by the officials.

During the investigation, the detained men admitted to acquiring tusks from an individual and selling them at a premium price. The Forest Department has registered a case and is now on the lookout for six other suspects involved in the illegal trade.
