Vast Inter-State Kidney Transplant Racket Busted: 8 Arrested

A significant inter-state kidney transplant racket has been dismantled by police, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals, including the mastermind, after a week-long operation. The gang was involved in performing illegal transplants using forged documents across multiple states. Among the arrested, seven others were bound-down for further legal proceedings.

A major inter-state kidney transplant racket has been dismantled with the arrest of eight individuals, including the alleged mastermind. The operation lasted a week and took place across various locations including Delhi-NCR, police said on Friday.

Seven additional individuals, comprising both donors and recipients, have been legally bound-down, requiring them to appear before authorities on designated dates.

The gang facilitated illegal kidney transplants using forged documents in hospitals across Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. The donors were promised between Rs 5 and 6 lakh, while recipients were charged up to Rs 40 lakh. Police have identified 34 cases of illegal transplants and recovered fake stamps, mobile phones, laptops, and forged documents.
