A 32-year-old mason was brutally murdered and his body set ablaze allegedly by his brother-in-law in Sector 15, police reported on Friday. The incident occurred at a newly constructed residential building in Civil Lines, where the charred remains were discovered in the early hours.
The victim, identified as Gorelal alias Halla, originally from Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, worked as a mason locally. Suspicion quickly fell on his brother-in-law, Rajesh, employed as a watchman at the same building. Rajesh is currently absconding, and authorities have mobilized a special team to apprehend him. Inspector Arvind Kumar from the Civil Lines police station disclosed that the accused's capture is imminent.
The alarming discovery was made by a complainant present at the scene, who told police he saw Gorelal visit Rajesh with some associates on Thursday night for a drinking session. The complainant expressed his shock, indicating Rajesh called him to the gallery, where he stumbled upon the burnt body. The police, responding promptly to the report, have sent the body to the mortuary and registered an FIR at Civil Lines police station.
