India Calls for Unified Front Against Terrorism at UN
India, represented by R Ravindra at the UN Security Council, appealed for a unified global stance against terrorism, subtly criticizing Pakistan. Emphasizing the need for steadfast action, India highlighted its commitment to cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and regional stability, ensuring initiatives in Central Asia and addressing challenges from Afghanistan.
India has urged the international community to abandon double standards in combating terrorism, subtly addressing Pakistan's alleged state-sponsored terrorism. R Ravindra, India's deputy representative at the UN, highlighted terrorism as a principal threat to global peace and security during a UN Security Council session on cooperation with regional organizations like the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
Ravindra emphasized the need for consistent global actions to counter terrorism, including financial support. He stressed India's dedication to fighting radicalization, noting the joint stance taken during India's SCO chairmanship in 2023. Ravindra also pointed out India's commitment to regional stability, as seen in its support and development initiatives in Central Asia.
Addressing the situation in Afghanistan, Ravindra highlighted potential regional threats like terrorism and drug trafficking, urging coordinated international efforts. He concluded by stressing the importance of adapting to contemporary security challenges that transcend traditional boundaries, advocating for increased collaboration between the UN and regional organizations.
