The Navi Mumbai police have successfully dismantled a sex racket and rescued eight women, following the arrest of an autorickshaw driver, an official reported on Saturday. Initially, police rescued a woman from a hotel room, based on information provided by the driver.
Inspector Prithviraj Ghorpade of the anti-human trafficking cell revealed that the arrested driver, Pradeep Yadav, had been ferrying women to hotels for prostitution, soliciting customers online. Following a tip-off and using a decoy customer, police managed to apprehend Yadav.
Interrogation of Yadav led to the rescue of eight more women from a room in Shiravane, Nerul. Additionally, police arrested two men, Vishnu alias Vikaskumar Janki Yadav (28) and Indrajit Indradev Prasad (63). The suspected kingpin, Shambu Upadhyaya, remains at large. An FIR has been lodged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Turbhe police station.
