The Karnataka High Court has instructed Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa to take his request for home food, bedding, and clothes during his incarceration to the magistrate court. Darshan is accused in the Renukaswamy murder case.

Justice S R Krishna Kumar issued the directive on Friday, ordering Darshan's counsel to file the application by Saturday, with a decision expected by July 26. The court hearing has been postponed until July 29.

The prosecution argued that Darshan should first appeal to the Inspector General of Prisons, and only if denied, approach the magistrate. They also contested his requests concerning prison regulations and cited concerns over the ramifications of allowing home food.

Arrested on June 11, Darshan faces charges of assault and murder for allegedly attacking his fan, Renukaswamy, from Chitradurga. The incident reportedly involved obscene messages sent to Darshan's friend Pavithra Gowda on social media. Pavithra is also a key accused in the case and remains in jail.
