Delhi Police have detained Rajan Phour, a 30-year-old state-level boxer, for allegedly shooting his uncle amid a property dispute, officials confirmed on Sunday. Rajan was taken into custody on Saturday after investigations revealed his involvement in four prior criminal cases, including attempted murder and abduction in Haryana.
According to a senior police officer, the conflict escalated last month when Rajan's uncle, Azad, residing in Nangla Paar, Panipat, hurled abuses at Rajan's mother. Vowing revenge, Rajan and his associates ambushed Azad on June 23, firing shots at him while he was driving home.
Despite being hit in the waist, Azad managed to drive home and was later taken to the hospital for treatment. Haryana Police registered an attempted murder case and began a probe. Delhi Police's Crime Branch received a tip about Rajan's whereabouts in Rohini and apprehended him successfully. Further investigations are ongoing.
