The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has successfully dismantled an inter-state drug cartel, seizing 3,000 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup worth Rs 15 lakh. The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals, according to NCB officials.
The suspects, identified as S R Ahmed, M Aslam, and Y Khan, were apprehended while collecting a parcel of the contraband from a transport firm in Ulhasnagar, Thane district. These individuals allegedly intended to distribute the illegal syrup in Mumbai, the officials stated.
Authorities believe that the trio is part of a larger inter-state drug ring, using legitimate transport services to facilitate their illegal activities. The seized bottles of codeine syrup were traced back to Lucknow, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover their broader network.
