The Haryana government on Sunday bolstered security and suspended mobile internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh district for 24 hours ahead of the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra, marred by violence last year.

Six individuals, including two home guards and a mosque cleric, died in clashes when a mob attacked a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession in Nuh on July 31 last year. This year, police have deployed around 2,500 personnel to ensure safety. Nuh Superintendent of Police, Vijay Pratap Singh, confirmed significant security enhancements, including drone surveillance and volunteer support.

Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata described the situation as peaceful and praised the cooperation between Hindu and Muslim communities. Internet services will remain suspended from 6 pm Sunday to 6 pm Monday to prevent misinformation and rumors. Additional measures include a flag march, a special advisory for heavy vehicle drivers, and the closure of liquor shops until the yatra concludes. The BJP government, previously criticized for handling last year's violence, aims to ensure a peaceful event this year.
