Kristen Michal Appointed as Estonia's New Prime Minister

Estonia's parliament has approved Kristen Michal as the new prime minister, succeeding Kaja Kallas. Michal, from the liberal Reform Party, will lead a centre-right coalition government. The new three-party government, including the Estonia 200 party and the Social Democrats, will be sworn in on Tuesday.

Estonia's parliament on Monday approved Climate Minister Kristen Michal as the country's next prime minister, succeeding Kaja Kallas who recently resigned to become the European Union's foreign policy chief.

Michal, 49, a member of the liberal Reform party like his predecessor, will lead the same centre-right majority coalition.

The new coalition government, which includes the liberal Estonia 200 party and the Social Democrats, is set to be sworn in on Tuesday.
