The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted an ad-interim stay on a special court order that permitted Indrani Mukerjea, accused of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora, to travel to Europe. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed a plea against the special court's decision.
Justice S V Kotwal stated that the CBI's plea should be heard by the regular bench on July 29, leading to the temporary suspension of the travel order. Indrani's advocate, Ranjeet Sangle, noted that she cannot travel as she does not have her passport.
The CBI argued that it would be inappropriate for a prime accused in an ongoing murder trial to leave the country. The court laid down conditions for travel, including a security deposit and periodic check-ins at Indian diplomatic missions.
