Anjem Choudary, a radical Islamist preacher with British and Pakistani nationality, has been found guilty of directing the banned terrorist organization Al-Muhajiroun (ALM). Choudary, 57, faces life imprisonment after a joint international investigation led to his conviction.

Choudary was accused of taking a 'caretaker role' within the ALM, directing its activities, and encouraging support by addressing online meetings. His involvement with the group dated back to its founding in 1996. He continued to be active as late as July 2023, directing online speeches to the US-based Islamic Thinkers Society.

The court proceedings highlighted Choudary's release from a prior prison sentence in 2018, and his immediate return to radical activities, which included issuing press releases via WhatsApp and Telegram from his home. The extensive international investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, resulting in his conviction.
