Delhi Police Busts Insurance Scam Ring, Arrests Three

Delhi Police have apprehended three men from Dehradun for duping individuals under the pretext of renewing insurance policies. The suspects, residents of Uttar Pradesh, allegedly scammed a woman from Delhi, extorting Rs 4.08 lakh. Police recovered multiple identification and banking documents from the accused.

Delhi Police arrested three men from Dehradun for their alleged involvement in duping people on the pretext of renewing insurance policies, authorities said on Tuesday.

The suspects, identified as Vipin Pal (22), Shivanshu Kumar (23), and Mohammad Farmaan (24), are residents of Uttar Pradesh. They were apprehended on Sunday, police report.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey, these individuals had cheated a 55-year-old woman from northeast Delhi's Yamuna Vihar. She claimed she received a call on June 22 from an unknown individual who informed her that her insurance agent had canceled her life insurance policy. She was told that to receive a refund, she would need to pay some processing fees.

The suspects managed to extract Rs 4.08 lakh from her through two transactions before shutting off their mobile phones.

Investigations led to the suspects' arrest in Dehradun. Police recovered 11 Aadhar cards, 28 ATM cards, 21 bank passbooks, eight chequebooks, five PAN cards, 11 SIM cards, and eight mobile phones from their possession.
