Paris Olympics: Israeli Athletes Secure Amid Heightened Tensions

Israel's Olympic team feels confident with the security measures in place at the Paris Olympics. The French authorities, in collaboration with international intelligence services, ensure comprehensive protection. Despite geopolitical tensions, especially over conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, the Games underscore Olympic unity, steering clear of political debates.

Israel's Olympic team is satisfied with the robust security measures at the Paris Olympics, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) affirmed on Tuesday. French forces, collaborating with global partners, are tasked with safeguarding the Games.

The event begins on Friday against a backdrop of significant security concerns and heightened geopolitical tensions, notably conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. Israeli athletes will receive round-the-clock protection. This comes in the wake of the tragic 1972 Munich Olympics, where 11 Israelis were killed.

IOC President Thomas Bach expressed full confidence in the French authorities, highlighting their meticulous and professional approach. "The French authorities are responsible for security. They are working with 180 international intelligence services to ensure these Olympic Games are safe and secure," Bach stated.

In addition to French security personnel, the Israeli team has brought its own security detail. Since the Munich attack, extra security has been a constant for Israeli athletes.

Amid calls from the Palestinian Olympic Committee to exclude Israel from the Games due to ongoing military actions in Gaza, Bach maintained the IOC's neutral stance. He emphasized the importance of the Olympics as a competition among athletes, not countries, and avoiding political disputes.
