UP Government Mandates Local Residency for SDMs and Tehsildars

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a significant step to improve local governance by mandating that sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) and tehsildars reside in their respective areas of posting.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, it was highlighted that the directive aims to ensure these officials spend most of their time in their tehsils, actively addressing public concerns and resolving issues promptly.

Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh has issued strict instructions to all divisional commissioners and district magistrates to enforce this order, stressing that resolving public issues is the government's top priority.
