A grim case has unfolded in the Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh, where a man is accused of killing his wife and burying her with the aid of family members. Police reported on Wednesday that the husband misled authorities with a missing person report.
The police have now arrested the prime suspect, Janved Kirar, along with his brother. They have registered a case against four individuals, including Janved, his brother, father, and uncle.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shiyaz KM, Janved Kirar, a resident of Jorasi village, originally filed a missing complaint for his wife, Pragati Kirar, on July 11. However, suspicions arose when her relatives alleged she faced harassment from her in-laws.
Janved initially misled investigators but eventually admitted to having a deadly altercation with his wife on July 8 after overhearing her telephone conversation with another individual.
The accused confessed to police that he assaulted his wife, leading to her death. He then collaborated with his brother Narottam, father Laxminarayan, and uncle Ghanshyam to bury her body in a nearby agricultural field, ASP Shiyaz added.
While Janved and his brother have been arrested, his father and uncle are still at large. The body has been exhumed, and further investigative procedures are ongoing.
