The Delhi government has initiated a probe into the unfortunate death of a 26-year-old IAS aspirant, Nilesh Rai, who was electrocuted in the Patel Nagar area. Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar has been directed to submit a detailed report by July 26.
Power Minister Atishi expressed her shock and grief in a communication to Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, emphasizing that a young, promising life was lost due to governmental negligence. She stated that the cause of death must be thoroughly investigated, and accountability must be established to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The Delhi Police are currently examining CCTV footage and coordinating with power distribution companies to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to Rai's death. Preliminary findings suggest that he was electrocuted when he accidentally touched an iron gate with a live current while navigating a waterlogged street.
