In a tragic incident, the family of 26-year-old civil services aspirant Nilesh Rai, who died by electrocution, has accused the power department of negligence. Rai, a Ghazipur resident, met his untimely death Monday night while returning to his PG accommodation in Delhi's Patel Nagar.

Rai reportedly slipped in a waterlogged street and grabbed an iron gate for balance, only to be electrocuted. His grandfather, Sashikant Rai, claims multiple calls to the electricity department went unanswered, which could have otherwise saved his life.

The Delhi Congress president, Devender Yadav, has demanded Rs 1 crore compensation for the grieving family, while the police and the Delhi government have launched investigations to understand the sequence of events and the role of Tata Power Discom in the tragedy.
